Well, well, well…. It’s been a while! (For me being active on an Ate Here profile, not necessarily on Substack, as this is the second post! Yay! Exciting things!) But do not worry! I still haven’t been cooking, and my phone is filled to the brim with images from places I visited this summer (RIP NYC Summer 26’). Oh, so many places. Oh my god. I’ve spent so much money.

Now, the restaurant we’re talking about today has been featured on @ate.here’s Instagram, but not yet on Substack (because there are only two posts. Duh). So if you find yourself wanting to hear more, be sure to hop on over there.

A reappearance is a treat for this specific restaurant, because it’s hard to get a reservation as it is, but for me? Well, now I’ve been twice! Call it luck, call it fate, call it persistence and your friends knowing the right people- whatever the case may be, maybe it’s a combination of all three, but I went to the Corner Store for a second time.

There’s not a lot I can tell you about alcohol. With that said, I know when something is a “high-quality,” well-thought-out drink and when it’s cheap and simply there to get you drunk. Double Chicken is not the latter (duh).

Rated No. 1 bar in North America in May 2023 and No. 2 best bar in the world in October 2023 by The World’s 50 Best Bars, they obviously take their drinks seriously.

Everything has been way too heavy: the world, politics, my existence. I need a break! But I've neglected my baby (this blog) for too long! So I made something for you!

It's not my usual diary entry (those are coming soon! I promise!), but it is something. In all my glory, presented to you by my fashion degree, here is my little how-to on personal style, a guide, if you will. Something that was once bullet points in my notes app is now a full-fledged article? Presentation? I don't know! It's something!

One of my goals for this blog is to start integrating different content besides my diary post, and there's never been a better time for something as lighthearted as a ‘how to find your personal style’ article! So please, relax and enjoy.

Let's get two things straight:

I don't hate Colorado. 

Choices are hard to make.

Even though I talk a lot of smack about Colorado and I’m one of the most opinionated, picky people you'll ever meet, I am a multifaceted human being who is sometimes, but not a lot of the time, wrong. So, while I have told people that I do, indeed, hate living here, I don't, and while I'm quick to make a decision, sometimes life isn't as simple as yes or no. 

What I hate about Colorado is that I have to choose to live in Colorado; that I have to choose between here and everywhere else in the world. I also hate that choosing to stay here means cutting off the chance to live a life I might regret not choosing one day.

I hate that I have to choose a way of life. 

I hate having to choose.

Psychologists define personality as how a person adapts to their environment through endurance, thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. While these factors hold steadfast in most theories surrounding personality, there is much debate surrounding the logistics of these factors and how they influence personality. The dispute surrounding this matter has led to various theories and approaches to understand it. To develop an updated and accurate understanding of personality, contemporary psychologists may benefit from psychology lectures and textbooks, such as those provided for our class. These resources provide a foundational overview of core information on personality, providing the basis to comprehend how individuals and society interact further, administrating the development of a better environment for both to achieve their goals. 

Let me confess: I love rom-coms with all of my heart.

If you had told me that I would one day admit this out loud, I would have called you a liar! I wasn't like other girls; I hated romance and girly shit. You couldn't have caught me dead watching one of those films. But like most haters, if you had snuck into my room late at night and taken me by surprise, you probably would have seen a rom-com on my TV and found me to be the actual liar. 

I've always loved rom-coms, even before puberty hit or I knew what love actually was. They have been there for me during some of the worst moments of my life, never during heartbreak, though; cult documentaries were reserved for that. Rom-coms were for something far worse: sleepless nights.

Like most coming-of-age stories, this one started the summer going into my sophomore year of high school. At the age of fifteen, I began experiencing panic attacks.

There is much debate as to whether humans can genuinely be altruistic, a belief generated by the scientific understanding that our actions are an attempt to meet the needs for our and our gene pool's survival. From my standpoint, humans can indeed be altruistic. Due to research surrounding altruism, I believe humans are capable of performing acts of kindness and having selfless concerns for others without any selfish intentions. Also, I believe that stating the opposite not only reflects on the person but also serves as an excuse not to examine why one holds such beliefs and how that affect them as a person, especially in terms of their actions, allowing selfish behavior to continue. 

Within psychology, many factors come into play when presenting research subject matter and its authenticity. Such factors, namely citation bias, are commonly seen in psychology teaching materials and can significantly affect the field's credibility if continued to be used. When authors cite research that only supports their claims, findings, or study they were trying to find, it can create a false sense of factuality, swaying audiences into believing said claims, specifically citation bias within the subject of multiple intelligence. Using citation bias within teaching multi-intelligence has created a false rendition of intelligence and learning. Most of the research presented in psychology textbooks on multi-intelligence is rooted in biased citations (Ferguson, Brown & Torres, 2016). When presented as teaching material, the opportunity of dismissing said material rises, posing a threat to the validity of psychology and the people who study it.  

Why Blondie, why?

Because I had to.

Because I had already been sharing them unsolicited.

Because they weren't always mine.

Because I needed others to help me spark these thoughts, and maybe by sharing mine, I will spark a thought in someone, changing their life the way my sparked thoughts changed mine.

So, here we are!

A place where I can share those thoughts, and you come (consenting!) to read them. A place where I can provide all of it: the thoughts that have changed me for the better, including those that send me into existential episodes, especially those that would and will piss off (the right) people. A place where I can provide a spark for your thoughts.

Throughout the decades the poncho, a draped piece of fabric that has a hole in the middle for the head to go through then drapes around the body, has been symbols of very different things. In the beginning of times, Men and women wore this draped garment as protection from the environment that they lived in. Many and most of these garments were made from animal skin. This garment can be seen throughout history from the cavemen, the natives of America and even the hippies of the sixties.
